The District 8 Community Policing Team (CPT) Officers are the liaison between the community and the Honolulu Police Department.  They also participate in various programs and activities that strengthen the relationship between the community and the Police Department.  They support the community policing philosophy of problem solving through partnerships.  The District 8 Community Policing Team focuses on crime reduction through prevention, reporting, and enforcement as well as traffic safety awareness and enforcement.

The District 8 Community Policing Team participates in the enforcement operations targeting truancy, gangs, drugs, and property crime offenses.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY TIPS

 

  • Wear bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials.
  • Carry a flashlight when walking at night.
  • Cross the street in a well-lit area at night.
  • Stand clear of buses, hedges, parked cars, or other obstacles before crossing so drivers can see you.
  • Always look both ways before crossing
  • Make eye contact with driver to assure they see you before crossing

HPD Officers partnership with Weed & Seed Hawaii to bring it's 16th year of Summer Culinary Arts Program back to James Campbell High School. Classes taught by Executive Chef Darryl Shinogi or Roy's Koolina. Classes are free to JCHS students and upon successful completion of the class, students ear .5 credits towards their high school diploma

Weed & Seed Hawaii in partnership with HPD held it's annual Kapuna Wellness Fair in April of 2019. 135 Kapuna were serviced with Kapuna ID's, financial and health resources and presentations covering medical and financial security and fraud prevention topics.

HPD officers along with other community members participated in Ewa Makai Middle Schools annual Career Day. Officers provided information and resources to help students to plan for a possible career in law enforcement.

D8 Community Policing Officers did a presentation and Kapuna Id's for the residence at Ilima at Leihano. The Kapuna were treated with an extensive "Talk Story" time where they were able to just chat and laugh with the CPT officers.

D8 CPT officers along with Solo Bike officers and the Narcotics Vice K-9 officers presented vehicles and exhibitions for the kids at the KROC center. Kids were treated to the vehicle displays as well as a demonstration of the K-9 skills used in Police Work.
