Ask HPD: Claiming a CrimeStoppers reward

Q: How do I get a reward from CrimeStoppers for turning someone in?

A: Being that the Crimestoppers organization is a separate entity from the Honolulu Police Department, all information concerning any wanted person, or crime, must be submitted through CrimeStoppers and not through 911 or Internet/e-mail to be eligible for a reward. You can reach CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, *CRIME from your cellular phone, or via their web site at and click on the Submit a Tip button.

When you give a tip, you will be issued a tip number and instructed to call back to check on the status of the case. If an arrest is made, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Rewards are paid on the first Thursday of every month and pick up will be coordinated between you and CrimeStoppers at any branch of First Hawaiian Bank of your choice.
