Ask HPD: Online Buyer and Seller Rights

Question: If someone sells an item on Craigslist and the buyer complains that something is wrong with the item after the purchase, who's liable and what are the rights of both parties?

Answer: If you run into problems with purchasing items online, you should contact the company to file a complaint. If you're using an online payment system, such as PayPal, you should contact the company to file a claim with them as well. Generally, these types of discrepancies are handled as a civil matter and would be settled in small claims court.
