On October 3, 2017, officials at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) discovered a discrepancy in the purchase history of diabetic test strips and the actual inventory of diabetic test strips. Most of the test strips that were ordered were unaccounted for in the facility’s inventory. During an audit, it was discovered that Pihana ordered large amounts of test strips then removed the test strips from the inventory and sold them. The total losses to WCCHC was nearly $700,000.
