Failure to Render Aid

UPDATE: CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating the vehicle that was involved in a Failure to Render Aid case that happened on July 10, 2018, in the Kunia area.

On Saturday, July 14, 2018, at approximately 3:00 p.m., HPD patrol officers located a Ford F-150 truck with damage consistent with debris that was located at the scene of the collision. Officers located the vehicle after an anonymous tip was called in about the vehicle’s location.


CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at aproximately 12:15 a.m., a passing motorist observed what appeared to be a person laying on the northbound shoulder of Kunia Road. Upon turning around, the motorist confirmed that it was an unresponsive male and called 911. Upon arrival of Honolulu Police Officers and Emergency Medical Services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, it appears the victim may have been walking northbound along the east shoulder of the roadway when he was subsequently struck by a passing vehicle. Although this vehicle had fled the scene, vehicle debris was located near the scene of the collision.
From the debris left at the scene, Traffic Investigators were able to determine that it belonged to a Ford vehicle particularly belonging to either a 1997 Ford Expedition or a 1997 Ford F150 or F250 truck.
