Our District 8 Community Policing Team joined Nānākuli High and Intermediate Community School Coordinator Kaui Asinsin, along with the incredible students, staff, and To The Top Hawaiʻi, for February’s SHINE initiative this past Friday. 🌟 This month’s value is Aloha Kekahi i Kekahi—Love One Another. Our goal was simple: to show our school community that love is the way! From uplifting signs to snacks during drop-off, we were there to make sure every student and family member started their day feeling supported. Moments like these are so important because they help our keiki see beyond the badge and realize that we are all here for them. 🚸 Recently, officers from the District 4 Community Policing Team joined three separate sign-waving events to promote pedestrian safety! 🙌 👟 At Kailua Intermediate, officers teamed up with students to address concerns about yielding to pedestrians, speeding, and distracted driving during busy school hours. 🚦 Another day at Kuʻulei Rd & Aulike St, students and community members joined in to remind drivers to yield for pedestrians and drive with aloha. 🚗 In Kāneʻohe, at Kamehameha Hwy & Haʻikū Rd, the Aliʻi Shores Neighborhood Security Watch worked alongside officers to urge drivers to slow down and don’t speed. Our Evidence Specialists from the Scientific Investigation Section visited the 5th graders at ʻĀhuimanu Elementary! ✨ The keiki got a front-row seat to the world of forensics with a hands-on marker chromatography activity. Using just water and ink, students watched as hidden colors inside a single marker separated and spread apart. 🎨🔍 This is the same scientific technique our labs use to break down complex mixtures into individual components for identification and study. It was so much fun to watch these young scientists in action; it’s amazing what a little water can reveal! 🕵️‍♂️💧 #ScientificInvestigation #STEM #FutureLeaders #SchoolLife #ɪɴsᴛᴀɢᴏᴏᴅ 📚🔬
