On June 26, 2021, at about 9:48 P.M., there was critical pedestrian motor vehicle collision on Keeaumoku Street near Makiki District Park in the Honolulu area.
A 56-year-old Honolulu male pedestrian, runs out of Makiki District Park and onto the roadway of Keeaumoku Street straight into the path of a 31-year-old Honolulu male traveling southbound on Keeaumoku Street. The 31 year old male was unable to avoid the pedestrian who was not in a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 56-year-old male was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 31-year-old male operator of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.
At this time, neither speed, alcohol, nor drugs appear to be a factor for the 31-year-old male operator of the vehicle. It does appear that alcohol is factor on the part of the pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing.
