Kathy Hicks, a 25-year-old female, was discovered on a grassy slope along Nuuanu Pali Drive. She was visiting from Georgia for a company softball tournament. The male was described as having an African American mixed ethnicity, standing 5’11” to 6′ tall, weighing about 150 to 160 lbs., clean cut with black hair, and brown eyes. UPDATE: On June 18, 2021, Thomas L. Garner was indicted for Hicks’ murder by an Oahu grand jury after his DNA was found to match a sample recovered from Hicks’ body. Garner was extradited from Florida, where he was serving a life sentence after recently being convicted for the 1984 murder of Pamela Cahanes in Sanford, Florida. He is currently awaiting trial.
