Aloha and thank you for your interest in HPD’s Law Enforcement Explorer Program (LEEP). LEEP is a program run by the Honolulu Police Department, under the guidelines of the “Exploring for Life” program run by the Boy Scouts of America.
The goal of our program is to INSPIRE and MOTIVATE young adults 14 -20 years of age to be better citizens by developing MORAL and ETHICAL values that will help them succeed in the world of tomorrow.
Using engaging activities and classes we build active and passive skills in each explorer. We follow up these lessons with dynamic scenarios or exercises to apply these skills, supporting the overall objective of developing each of our explorers into better versions of themselves.
We will have divisional tours to give our explorers exclusive access to see what it is that HPD does. They will be able to engage with officers and other HPD personnel on a more personal level and see things they normally don’t get to see in the average community show and tell.
Every couple of months we take the opportunity to participate in community service events with reputable organizations within our county, like Special Olympics, Weed and Seed, Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Food Bank to name a few. These hours are tracked and logged for future reference.
Lastly explorers will be held to a standard of personal accountability and integrity that is so crucial to be productive members of today’s society. But more importantly we mix FUN into everything we do.
