On July 24, 2024, at about 7:38 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Kamehameha Highway, in the Haleiwa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a male motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Highway, when he collided into a 27-year-old female pedestrian, who was not in a marked crosswalk, while she crossed Kamehameha Highway, near Comsat Road.
The unidentified motorist briefly stopped before continuing to travel northbound on Kamehameha Highway without rendering aid or providing information. The unidentified motorist was possibly driving a dark colored four door sedan.
As a result of the collision, the 27-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, where she was later upgraded to serious condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
