On August 4, 2024, at about 9:25 P.M., a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a three-wheeled motorcycle occurred on the H-1 Freeway (east) in the Airport area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 37-year-old male motorist was traveling eastbound on the H-1 Freeway, prior to the Dillingham Boulevard exit (exit 18B) and rear-ended a three-wheeled motorcycle, operated by a 56-year-old male.
The impact of the initial collision ejected the motorcycle passenger, a 55-year-old male, onto the roadway. The 56-year-old male operator remained in the motorcycle cockpit.
Both the 56-year-old male operator and the 55-year-old male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 37-year-old male motorist was transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The motorcycle operator and passenger were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
