On August 4, 2024, at about 11:00 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles occurred on Kamehameha Highway in the Kaneohe area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section that a 26-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on William Henry Road, prior to Kamehameha Highway and broadsided a 30-year-olf female motorist. The 30-year-old female motorist was heading southbound on Kamehameha Highway when the collision occurred.
As a result of the collision the 30-year-old female operator was injured and subsequently transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition. Her 21-year-old male passenger was subsequently transported to an area hospital in good condition.
The 26-year-old male motorist was also injured and was subsequently transported by Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
At this time speed, appears to be a contributing factor in this collision. It is unknown if either drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
