On October 7, 2024, at about 8:30 P.M., a motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred on the Likelike Highway (southbound), east of the Wilson Tunnel entrance, in the Kaneohe area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 23-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the Likelike Highway when he lost control and collided with a guardrail and was ejected onto the roadway.

Prior to police arrival, the 23-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital, at which time his condition was unknown.

An update at the hospital reported that the 23-year-old male motorcyclist was in critical condition.

At this time it unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision. 

The investigation is ongoing.
