On October 22, 2024, at about 1:05 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a single motorcycle occurred on the H-1 Freeway westbound, in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 44-year-old motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway at a high rate of speed when the motorcyclist lost control, traveled into the shoulder and struck a guardrail, ejecting the motorcyclist onto the roadway.
As a result if the collision, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 44-year-old motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 36th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 44 at the same time in 2023.
