On November 15, 2024, at about 05:50 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway at a high rate of speed when it side-swiped a 21-year-old male.
As a result of the initial collision, the 31-year-old male lost control, traveled into the eastbound lanes of Farrington Highway, and collided with a 32-year-old motorist.
Debris from the secondary collision struck a 47-year-old male motorist, causing damages. The 31-year-old male motorist continued in the eastbound lanes of Farrington Highway and struck a 29-year-old male and his 30-year-old passenger head-on.
As a result of this collision, the 29-year-old male and his 30-year-old passenger spun out and collided with a 31-year-old male motorist. A 30-year-old motorist then collides with a 31-year-old motorist.
The 31-year-old operator was taken via EMS to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 21-year-old, 32-year-old, 47-year-old, and 31-year-old operators were not injured as a result of the collision.
The 29-year-old operator and the 30-year-old occupant were both taken via EMS to an area hospital in good condition.
Speed appears to be a factor at this time. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
