On November 20, 2024, at about 5:00 PM, a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on Farrington Highway in the Kapolei area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist and his two juvenile passengers were traveling westbound on Farrington Highway approaching Laaloa Street, when the 61-year-old motorist pulled off onto the shoulder of Farrington Highway and collided with a Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Solo Bike Officer who was also traveling westbound on Farrington Highway within the right shoulder.
As a result of the collision the HPD Solo Bike Officer was ejected onto the roadway.
The HPD Solo Bike Officer was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 61-year-old male and his two juvenile passengers were not injured as a result of the collision.
The HPD Solo Bike Officer was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
