On November 28, 2024, at about 11:50 P.M, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on the H-1 Freeway, westbound, in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 35-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway, when he was rear ended by a 20-year-old male motorcyclist, traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway, at a high rate of speed.
As a result of the collision, the 20-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 20-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 35-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors in this collision.
This is the 44th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 51 during the same time in 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
