On December 02, 2024, at about 2:25 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Pali Highway near Vineyard Boulevard, in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 37-year-old female motorist was traveling northbound on Pali Highway approaching the intersection of Pali Highway and Vineyard Boulevard, when she collided with an adult female pedestrian who was crossing Pali Highway in a marked crosswalk against a “Do Not Walk” sign.
As a result of the collision, the female pedestrian who has yet to be identified was thrown onto the roadway and sustained injuries.
The female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 37-year-old female motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors.
This is the 46th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 52 at the same time in 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
