On December 2, 2024, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 82-year-old male pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 45th Traffic Fatality of 2024 as compared to 52 at the same time in 2023.
The investigation remains on-going.

On December 1, 2024, at about 9:00 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of St. Louis Drive and Waialae Avenue in the Kaimuki area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 56-year-old male motorist was attempting to turn right from St. Louis Drive onto Waialae Avenue, when he struck an 82-year-old male pedestrian, who was crossing the roadway within a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the male pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. His condition deteriorated and he was later listed in critical condition.
The 56-year-old male motorist was not injured and remained at the scene.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
