On December 21, 2024, at about 5:40 PM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Mailiilii Road, in the Waianae area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling southbound on Mailiilii Road and struck a 56-year-old female pedestrian who was walking within the unimproved sidewalk.

The unidentified motorist continued traveling southbound on Mailiilii Road without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the collision, the 56-year-old female pedestrian was taken to an area hospital in serious condition by Emergency Medical Services.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
