On December 22, 2024, at about 8:50 PM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Waipahu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 27-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on the H1 Freeway and struck a 31-year-old female pedestrian who was walking through the traffic lanes of the H1 Freeway.

As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 27-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of this collision.

At this time, speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be factors in this collision.

This is the 51st Traffic Fatality of 2024 compared to 54 at the same time in 2023.
