On December 28, 2024, at about 4:25 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist occurred on the H-2 Freeway, near the Leilehua Golf Course overpass, in the Mililani area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 27-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the H-2 Freeway at a high rate of speed, when he rear-ended a 53-year-old male motorist and his five passengers.
As a result of the collision, the male motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. However, his condition deteriorated and he was later listed in critical condition.
The 53-year-old male motorist and his five passengers were not injured and remained at the scene.
The 27-year-old male motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
