On January 6, 2025, at about 3:30 AM, a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the Pearl City area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 61-year-old male motorist was traveling eastbound on Kamehameha Highway when he collided with a 60-year-old male pedestrian who was walking through the eastbound traffic lanes of Kamehameha Highway, outside of a marked crosswalk.
The 61-year-old male motorist continued on leaving the scene and reported the collision shortly thereafter.
The 60-year-old male pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The 60-year-old male pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
