On March 9, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 71-year-old male pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 15th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 6 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains on-going.

On February 18, 2025, at about 05:50 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian occurred on Moanalua Road near the intersection of Ualo Street in the Aiea area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an 18-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Moanalua Road and collided with an adult male pedestrian who was in a marked crosswalk. The male pedestrian has yet to be identified.
As a result of the collision, the male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 18-year-old male remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed, alcohol, nor drugs appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
