On February 27, 2025, at about 12:25 AM, a serious hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred on Liliha Street near North King Street, in the Kalihi area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 30-year-old moped rider was traveling southbound on Liliha Street, when it was rear-ended by an unidentified motorist.
After the collision the unidentified motorist continued traveling westbound on North King Street without stopping to render aid or provide information.
The unidentified motorist’s vehicle was later located on Pua Lane, however the operator of the vehicle fled and has not been identified.
As a result of the collision, the 30-year-old male moped rider was taken to an area hospital in serious condition by Emergency Medical Services.
The 30-year-old male moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in this collision.
