Recently, the District 8’s Community Policing Team has been going to different schools in the Ewa Beach area to educate students and staff about current e-bike safety tips and laws. On Thursday, they conducted an e-bike and electronic motorcycle enforcement at the entrance to Campbell High School. Numerous students were observed without helmets and operating vehicles considered as electric motorcycles that are not approved for road use. Parents and guardians are advised that electric motorcycles are high powered devices that can reach speeds in excess of 45 mph and are subject to the same regulations as motorcycles, including motor vehicle insurance, type 2 driver’s license, registration, and safety check. HPD asks that parents and other adults help to keep our keiki safe by learning about the laws. To learn more, please click here. https://www.honolulupd.org/information/pedestrian-safety/
