On February 25, 2007, the body of 56-year-old Linda Hannon was found in the area of Kahana Bay, near the Huilua Fishpond. Investigation revealed that she had been beaten and possibly sexually assaulted. Hannon had last been seen that morning at a hillside bunker overlooking Kahana Bay, where she reportedly lived. She frequented the Punaluʻu and Kaʻaʻawa areas and was often seen riding a Huffy Stone Mountain bike with a wicker basket.
