Collisions Involving Bodily Injury

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at about 10:45 a.m., the Unit 2 moped operator was traveling eastbound on the Kalanianaole Highway in the bicycle lane, near Kawaikui Beach Park. Unit 2 reported that a green Honolulu garbage truck, traveling in the same direction, veered into the bicycle lane. Unit 2 swerved to avoid a collision and lost control of the moped. Unit 2 struck a curb, fell onto the sidewalk, and sustained injuries. The Witness vehicle left the scene without providing any information or rendering aid.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to call the Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section.
