Cold Cases

In 2018, the HPD launched the A’ole Poina (Never Forgotten) project to review all of its cold cases dating back to the 1960s. Anyone with information about a case is asked to contact the HPD’s Cold Case Unit. You can also contact Honolulu CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous.

On December 24, 1975, Ingrid (Lori) Ostrenga was found deceased in her Kailua residence. The investigation revealed that she had been strangled.

Margaret Agnes Hauanio

Margaret Agnes Hauanio, a 16-year-old female, was discovered lying face down on a dirt road in Waipahu.
Alanna Bailey 30-year-old female

Alanna Bailey

Alana Bailey, a 30-year-old female, was discovered in a wooded area near Pali Highway. Reports indicate she appeared to have been strangled to death.
Ralph Stempf, a 48-year-old male.

Ralph Stempf, a 48-year-old male, was discovered deceased in his Makiki apartment. Reports indicate he had been assaulted with a blunt object.

On July 4, 1981, Stacey Gilman was walking along Waikiki Beach, near Fort DeRussy, during the 4th of July fireworks display when she was struck by a bullet.

Kathy Hicks, a 25-year-old female, was discovered on a grassy slope along Nuuanu Pali Drive.

Michael Onodera, a 24-year-old male, was discovered dead in his Hawaii Kai home.

Helen Correa, a 22-year-old female, was found in a drainage ditch in the Kunia Area.

Terry L. Shimizu

Terry Shimizu (also known as Terry Foxx), a 39-year-old female, was discovered dead in a Wahiawa business establishment. Her employer, Carol Drake, was also found dead next to her.
