
Overnight from March 28 to 29, 2025, the Night Enforcement Unit (NEU) conducted a strategic enforcement operation targeting an unpermitted illegal street racing event. The Traffic Division had received information about a “night run” occurring in the Kapolei area. These “night runs” are known to officers to involve illegal and dangerous activities, such as racing and speeding. These hazardous behaviors place both participating drivers and the public in potential jeopardy.
During the operation, NEU officers arrested several individuals for various offenses, including Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant (OVUII), Reckless Driving, Excessive Speeding, and Racing on Highways. They also issued an additional 17 citations, consisting of four for excessive speeding, two for reckless driving, one for a moving violation, and ten for miscellaneous offenses. The suspects were caught driving at dangerously high speeds, including 106 mph in a 60 mph zone, 117 mph in a 60 mph zone, 142 mph in a 60 mph zone, and 152 mph in a 55 mph zone.
