A 69 year old male was riding a bicycle on a sidewalk area along Farrington Highway westbound, crossing the Maipalaoa Bridge, when he lost his balance and fell onto the highway.
A Nissan 4-door sedan, operated by a 72 year old female, was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway and was unable to avoid the bicyclist. The Nissan sedan struck the bicyclist causing critical injuries to the bicycle rider.
The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
