On November 4, 2023, at about 12:11 AM, a critical hit and run motor vehicle collision involving three pedestrians occurred on Farrington Highway in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a motorist, who has yet to be identified, was traveling eastbound in the left lane on Farrington Highway and collided with an 18-year-old adult male pedestrian, a 20-year-old adult male pedestrian, and a 19-year-old adult male pedestrian who were fighting in the roadway. The impact of the collision caused the 18-year-old male to collide into an unoccupied vehicle that was parked to the right of the roadway.
The unidentified motorist collided with the parked vehicle before it continued traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway without stopping to render aid or provide information. The unidentified motorist was possibly driving a white pickup truck with pipe racks.
As a result of the collision, the 18-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition, the 19-year-old male pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition, and the 20-year-old male pedestrian drove himself to an area hospital in good condition.
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors.
