On October 28, 2024, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 76-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 38th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 45 at the same time in 2023.
The investigation remains on-going.

On October 27, 2024, at approximately 7:39 AM, a critical hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred near Farrington Highway and Pahu Street in the Waipahu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 55-year-old male traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway made a right turn on Pahu Street and struck a 76-year-old female pedestrian who was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway crossing Pahu Street.
As a result of the collision, the 76-year-old female was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 55-year-old motorist initially stopped and later fled the scene, traveling southbound on Pahu Street without rendering aid or providing information. The 55-year-old motorist was later located and arrested for Collision Involving Death or Serious Bodily Injury.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
