On August 30, 2023, at about 07:00 PM, a critical moped collision occurred in the Honolulu area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 71-year-old adult male moped rider was traveling northbound on Pali Highway, just past Pauoa Road, when he drifted towards the right side of the roadway and collided with the raised concrete shoulder.
As a result of the collision, the 71-year-old male moped rider was ejected onto the roadway.
The 71-year-old male moped rider was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
