On 7-25-21, at about 1800 hours, the Medical Examiner’s Office called to inform us that the 68 year old moped operator had died from injuries that he sustained from this collision.
This is the 28th Traffic Fatality for the year 2021, compared to 28 at the same time from 2020.
This investigation is on-going.
On Saturday, July 24, 2021, at about 10:07 p.m., a Major Motor Vehicle Collision occurred in the Honolulu area, involving two mopeds.
A blue Zhong moped, operated by a 59 year old male, was traveling westbound on Alohea Avenue when it was rear-ended by a Honda moped just east of Francis Street. The operator of the Zhong moped was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to an area hospital in Serious but stable condition.
The Honda moped, operated by a 68 year old male, was also not wearing a helmet. He was transported to an area hospital in Critical condition.
Speed, Drug, and Alcohol does not appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
