On February 21, 2025, at about 7:30 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Leleuli Street near Pahelehala Loop in the Kahuku area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 27-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on Leleuli Street when she collided with a 90-year-old female pedestrian attempting to cross Leleuli Street outside of a marked crosswalk.
The 90-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 27-year-old female remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
The Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was later informed by the Medical Examiner’s Officer that the 90-year-old female pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
This is the 10th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year, as compared to 5 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation is on going.
