On February 24, 2025, at about 10:13 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a moped, occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an unidentified adult male moped rider, who was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway, crossed over into the westbound lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a 32-year-old male motorist.
As a result of the collision, the unidentified adult male moped rider was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in serious condition where he was subsequently listed in critical condition.
The unidentified male moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 32-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
