On February 26, 2025, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office that the 88-year-old female pedestrian involved in this collision had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
This is the 12th Traffic Fatality on Oahu this year as compared to 5 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains on-going.

On February 25, 2025, at about 6:55 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Lunalilo Home Road prior to Kalakua Street in the Hawaii Kai area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 18-year-old male motorist was traveling southbound on Lunalilo Home Road when he collided with a 88-year-old female pedestrian who was attempting to cross Lunalilo Home Road within a marked crosswalk.
As a result of the collision, the 88-year-old female pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 18-year-old male motorist remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing
