On Monday, January 2, 2023, at about 12:50 p.m., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred in the Kailua area, involving a single motorcycle with a single occupant.
It was reported to the Vehicular Homicide Section that a motorcycle, operated by a 50-year-old male, was traveling eastbound on the H3 Freeway at a high rate of speed. At about 3/4 mile prior to the Mokapu Boulevard Off-ramp, the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a bend in the roadway and struck the pavement before colliding with a guardrail.
