On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at about 9:05 p.m., a critical motor vehicle collision occurred in the Pearl City area, involving a single motorcyclist with a single occupant.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicle Homicide Section that a 23-year-old adult male, was traveling westbound on the H-1 Freeway at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle at which time it collided with the Zipper barrier.
As a result of the collision, the 23-year-old adult male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision
At this time speed appears to be a factor in this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
