On March 20, 2023, at about 7:03 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision, occurred in the Pearl City area involving a vehicle and 2 large trailers.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 23-year-old male motorist was traveling eastbound on Waihona Street and for reasons unknown veered into the opposite lane of traffic and continued into the shoulder area where he collided with a parked trailer. The collision caused the parked trailer to push back into another parked trailer.
As a result of the collision, the 23-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 23-year-old motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
At this time, it appears that speed may have been a factor in the collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are factors in the collision.
