On July 1, 2023, at about 11:50 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Farrington Highway in the Nanakuli area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 27-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when the 27-year-old male motorcyclist disregarded a red light and collided with a 28-year-old female motorist making a left turn.
As a result of the collision, the 27-year-old male motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway and was taken to an are hospital in serious condition, while at the hospital the 27-year-old male motorcyclist was downgraded to critical condition.
The 27-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 28-year-old female motorist was transported to an area hospital in good condition.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
