On October 9, 2024, at about 6:36 A.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred at the intersection of Vineyard Boulevard and Pali Highway, in the Downtown Honolulu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 56-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Vineyard Boulevard and making a left turn onto Pali Highway when for unknown reasons, he left the roadway and collided with a traffic light signal pole.

At the time of the collision the 56-year-old male motorist may have been suffering from a medical condition.

The 56-year-old male motorist was transported to an area hospital, in critical condition.

The collision occurred at a low rate of speed and the driver was wearing his seatbelt.

At this time, speed, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision. 

The investigation is ongoing.
