On December 18, 2023, at about 12:38 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred in the area of Iroquois Road and Hoomaka Street in the Ewa area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 19-year-old adult female motorist and her passenger a 37-year-old male were traveling eastbound on Iroquois Road when she drifted to the right, striking the right curb.
As a result of the initial collision, the 19-year-old female motorist then overcorrected, and veered left, back into the westbound lane of Iroquois Road into the path of a 27-year-old adult female motorist, who was traveling westbound on Iroquois Road, where they collided.
As a result of the collision, the 19-year-old female operator and the 27-year-old female operator were extricated from their respective vehicles.
The 19-year-old female operator was transported by emergency medical services to an area hospital in serious condition.
The 37-year-old male passenger was transported by emergency medical services to an area hospital in good condition.
The 27-year-old female was transported by emergency medical services to an area hospital in critical condition.
It appears that all involved occupants were not wearing their seatbelts.
At this time speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
