On December 20, 2023, at about 05:55 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred in the area of the Moanalua Freeway Extension and the H-3 Freeway in the Aiea area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 65-year-old adult male motorist and his passenger a 72-year-old female were traveling eastbound on the Moanalua Extension when the vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a delineator.
As a result of the collision, the 72-year-old female passenger suffered injuries to her leg. The 65-year-old male driver was not injured.
The 72-year-old female passenger was transported by emergency medical services to an area hospital in critical condition.
At this time speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
