On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at approximately 12:00 P.M., a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred in the area of Kamehameha Highway and Waikalani Drive in the Mililani area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 29-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Kamehameha Highway when, for unknown reasons, lost control and traveled off of the roadway onto the grass shoulder and collided with a guardrail.
As a result of the initial collision, the 29-year-old motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and collided with a utility pole.
The 29-year-old motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, and his condition deteriorated, and he was then listed in critical condition.
The 29-year-old motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
