On February 8, 2024, at about 5:30 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a moped occurred in the area of Fort Street and South Beretania Street in the Honolulu area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that an adult female moped operator who has yet to be identified and her passenger an adult male who has yet to be identified were traveling southbound on Fort Street approaching South Beretania Street when for unknown reasons, the adult female lost control and drifted to the right when she collided with a vehicle that was parked and unoccupied.  

As a result of the collision, the adult female was ejected onto the roadway. She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

The adult female was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The adult male passenger fled the scene of the collision on foot and it is unknown if he sustained any injuries.

At this time speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
