On March 14, 2024, at about 9:15 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle, occurred on Fort Weaver Road in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 31-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Fort Weaver Road and collided with a 59-year-old male motorists who was traveling southbound. The 39-year-old male motorcyclist was attempting to speed pass the 59-year-old male motorist who was executing a left turn at the intersection of Fort Weaver Road and Kuhina Street.
As a result of the collision, the 31-year-old male motorcyclist was transported via Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 31-year-old male motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The 59-year-old male motorists remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.
At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor on the part of the adult male motorcyclist. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs is a contributing factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
