On March 16, 2024, at about 8:55 AM, a critical motor vehicle collision occurred on Farrington Highway near Upena Street in the Waianae area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 67-year-old male motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when he attempted to make a left turn from Farrington Highway onto Upena Street and collided with a 55-year-old male motorist who was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway.
As a result of the collision, the 55-year-old male motorist was taken to an area hospital in serious condition and later downgraded to critical condition.
The 67-year-old male motorist sustained minor injuries and refused further treatment at the scene.
At this time, neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
