On April 11, 2024, at about 2:10 PM, a critical motor vehicle collision, involving a single motor vehicle and a electric bike rider, occurred within the intersection of Kapolei Parkway and Keoneula Boulevard in the Ewa Beach area.
It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, that a 40-year-old female motorist was traveling eastbound on Keoneula Boulevard, and as this vehicle entered the intersection of Keoneula Boulevard and Kapolei Parkway with the right of way, it broadsided a juvenile male electric bike rider, who was traveling southbound on Kapolei Parkway in a marked crosswalk and disregarded the displayed “Do Not Walk” signal.
As a result of the collision, the juvenile male sustained injuries to his head and body and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
The 40-year-old female motorist remained on scene and was not injured.
The electric bike rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of this collision.
At this time speed, drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors of this collision
The investigation is ongoing.
